Evolution of a Diamond Ring

Diamond ring custom made from 18 karat gold and palladium. Center stone is a brilliant cut diamond of 1.05 carat.


 
The new ring shank and side rails are already finished and all parts are ready for assembly. Gold and palladium strips are lined up for an alternating colour pattern.   The alternating strips form the outer sleeve around the inner core of the ring shank. Everything is soldered together here in preparation for the final rounding of the outer curves.


Side view of the finished center ring and the side rails ready to be attached. Finally white gold rails were chosen for better contrast.   Top view of the finished ring: a double stepped open bezel setting was made to fit in the center of the ring which now secures the one carat diamond.
